With funds received at their wedding, John and Rose Marie Savona put a down payment on their first press, an ATF Chief 20. Originally the business was housed in the basement of what was then Kota Products, an aluminum window manufacturing company in Rocky Point.

With the help of John's father, land was purchased and a building was erected in Mt. Sinai. At his suggestion the "A" was removed from Savona and the business became Sav-On Printing Inc. on February 3, 1958. All five of the Savona children (2 boys and 3 girls) grew up knowing what hard work meant and they learned early on that doing the job well and on time was the premise on which the business was to be build.

Today, the Hot Metal type has been replaced by computers, the original press by several multi-color machines, and mom by her two sons John and Joseph. Dad is still a permanent fixture and still makes sure that every job that leaves the shop is of the highest possible quality.
